Why Reiki Works: Facts My Clients at Healing Arts Center Want to Know
By Victoria | Somatic Coach, Reiki Practitioner & Co-Founder of Healing Arts Center | 15 Years of Practice
I believe informed clients get better results. Whether you are here for stress relief, nervous system support, emotional processing, or because something in you said it was time, here are clear and useful facts about Reiki that will help you get the most from every session.
What Reiki actually does
Supports nervous system regulation. Reiki works with the body's energy to help shift it out of fight or flight and into a state where rest and healing become possible.
Reduces stress and anxiety. Most clients report feeling calmer and more grounded after a session, sometimes significantly so.
Supports emotional processing. Reiki can help move stuck energy that shows up as tension, overwhelm, grief, or emotional heaviness.
Complements other modalities. Reiki works well alongside therapy, somatic work, breathwork, and medical treatment without interfering with any of it.
Promotes body awareness. Many clients begin to notice physical and emotional patterns they had been moving too fast to feel.
What I offer and why you might choose it
Traditional Usui Reiki: Foundational energy work that supports overall balance, stress relief, and nervous system regulation.
Trauma-informed Reiki: Adapted for clients carrying trauma. Sessions are paced carefully and your comfort is the priority at every step.
Reiki with breathwork: Combining breathwork deepens the nervous system response and supports emotional release at a body level.
Reiki with meditation: Guided Trauma-Sensitive Meditation combined with Reiki to deepen relaxation, quiet the mind, and support nervous system regulation.
Reiki with inner child work: Utilizing Parts Work for clients ready to work with younger versions of themselves that are still carrying pain, fear, or unmet needs.
Reiki with hypnotherapy: Incorporating Medical Hypnotherapy to support deeper access to subconscious patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
Reiki with yoga nidra: A deeply restorative combination that brings the body into a state between waking and sleep, where the nervous system can fully release and heal.
What to expect at your first session
A conversation first. I want to know what brought you in, what you are carrying, and what you are hoping to experience.
Fully clothed. Reiki does not require you to undress. You lie comfortably on a table while I work with your energy field.
No pressure. Sessions move at your pace. You are always in control of what happens and how far we go.
Aftercare. I will give you simple guidance on what to do after your session to support what your body just did.
How often should you have Reiki?
It depends on what you are working through. For acute stress or emotional overwhelm, weekly sessions can provide meaningful support. For ongoing maintenance and nervous system health, every two to four weeks is common. For those doing deeper healing work, we will build a plan together based on where you are and where you want to go.
Simple tips to get better results
Drink water after your session. Your body has been doing work even if it did not feel like it.
Rest if you need to. Some people feel energized after Reiki. Others need quiet time. Both are normal.
Journal if something comes up. Reiki can surface emotions or insights. Writing helps you process and retain them.
Give it more than one session. Like most healing modalities, the results build over time.
Who Reiki is for
Reiki is for everyone. Children, adults, families, those managing chronic illness, and people going through significant life transitions. I am proud to offer these specialized sessions to the Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads community, ensuring a local space for deep nervous system work.
For those who are neurodivergent or living with a traumatic brain injury, sessions are fully adapted around your needs. Lighting, sound, scent, touch, pressure, pacing, and movement are all flexible and entirely yours to shape. You do not have to mask here. You do not have to perform calm. The only goal is for your nervous system to feel safe enough to rest on your terms and in your way.
My Commitment to You
I maintain strict professional boundaries and evidence-based somatic principles to ensure your healing space is ethical and safe. I do not use spiritual gaslighting. I do not minimize your lived experiences. I empower you every step of the way.
Sliding scale options are available for active duty service members, veterans, first responders, military families, college students, and oncology patients. Healing should not be out of reach. Reach out and we will figure something out.
Ready to experience it?
I tailor every session to what you need that day. Whether you are new to energy work or have been practicing for years, we will start where you are and build from there.
